- To promote holistic growth of the Horticulture sector through promotion, extension, post-harvest management, processing, and marketing.
- To encourage aggregation of farmers into farmer groups like FIGs/FPOs and FPCs to bring economy of scale and scope, enhance horticulture production, augment farmers, income, and strengthen nutritional security.
- To improve productivity by way of quality germplasm, planting material, and water use efficiency through Micro Irrigation, support skill development, and create employment generation opportunities for rural youth in horticulture and post-harvest management.

What is the "Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH)" Scheme?
The MIDH Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. It aims at the holistic growth of the horticulture sector, covering a wide array of crops including fruits, vegetables, root & tuber crops, mushrooms, spices, flowers, aromatic plants, coconut, cashew, cocoa, and bamboo.
How is the funding for MIDH allocated between the Government of India and the State Governments?
Under the MIDH Scheme, the Government of India contributes 60% of the total outlay for developmental programs in all states, except those in the North East and Himalayan regions, where the contribution is 90%.
What is the pattern of assistance?
Production of planting materials, area expansion, rejuvenation of senile plantation, creation of water sources, protected horticulture, bee keeping, mechanisation, post harvest and establishment of market infrastructures.
What is the type of assistance?
Grant in Aid, Subsidy sales of inputs, training and demonstration.
Who can apply for the scheme?
The bonafide farmers engaged in Agriculture, possessing own or leased land of at least 0.2 (hectares) or more can apply for the scheme.
How to apply for the scheme?
The bonafide farmers can apply in plain paper through the nearest Horticulture Development Officer of a CD Block/ Horticulture Circle.
What is the beneficiaries’ selection procedure?
The bonafide farmers shall be selected on a first come first basis.
