'Expansion, diversification, and modernization' refer to activities resulting in at least a 25% increase in both plant and machinery value and production capacity.

The value is assessed by the Public Works Department/Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC). Buildings already occupied and later purchased for setting up industries are not eligible.

It refers to the value as per the land document (Sale Deed) or the guideline register value of the Government, whichever is less.

This includes plant and machinery costs, electrification costs, testing equipment, tools, jigs, and molds.

Scheduled caste/scheduled tribe or woman entrepreneurs who have commenced production on or after 27th March 2002 in a rented building are eligible.

The prescribed application form is available on the Official Website of the Department of Industrial Development, Union Territory of Puducherry.

The subsidy may be disbursed in the next financial year subject to the availability of funds.

The subsidy is disbursed in a single installment annually. For units financed by financial institutions/banks, the amount is disbursed through them, while for self-financed units, it is disbursed directly to the entrepreneurs.

The rent fixed by the organization owning the premises will be considered for calculating the subsidy.

The subsidy is provided on a tapering basis: 50% of the rent for the first two years, 40% for the third year, and 25% for the fourth and fifth years.

The maximum ceiling for the Rent Subsidy is ₹5,000 per month, subject to specific conditions.
