The Govt. of Maharashtra has started Junior Colleges by upgrading the 148 secondary Ashram Schools for the educational and social development of Vimukta Jatis and Nomadic Tribes (VJNT) students.

Under this scheme, the government of Maharashtra provides academic educational facilities, free lodging, and boarding to the students of Vimukta Jatis and Nomadic Tribes (VJNT) in Junior Colleges.

Junior Colleges provide medical facilities, bedding and clothing & uniforms to residential students.

This scheme is implemented on a grant-in-aid basis to voluntary organizations.

A student of the VJNT Category is eligible to apply for the scheme.

Yes, only a student who is a permanent resident of Maharashtra state is eligible for the scheme.

The Voluntary Agency should have running Secondary Ashram School, and the result of the school should not be below 60%.

Yes, the Voluntary Agency should be economically sound to run Junior College.

Secondary Ashram Schools should have facilities like Buildings, Water supply, Electricity, etc. to qualify for Junior College.

Applicant should contact the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare of the concerned District & Head Master of the concerned Ashram School in Maharashtra.

Admissions are finalized by the Head Master of the concerned Ashram School Head Master.
