- Enable Poor and Marginalized to Access Benefits - Demand led skill training at no cost to the rural poor
- Inclusive Program Design - Mandatory coverage of socially disadvantaged groups (SC/ST 50%; Minority 15%; Women 33%)
- Shifting Emphasis from Training to Career Progression - Pioneers in providing incentives for job retention, career progression and foreign placements
- Greater Support for Placed Candidates - Post-placement support, migration support and alumni network
- Proactive Approach to Build Placement Partnerships - Guaranteed Placement for at least 75% trained candidates
- Enhancing the Capacity of Implementation Partners- Nurturing new training service providers and developing their skills
- Regional Focus - Greater emphasis on projects for poor rural youth in Jammu and Kashmir (HIMAYAT), The North-East region and 27 Left-Wing Extremist (LWE) districts (ROSHINI)
- Standards-led Delivery - All program activities are subject to Standard Operating Procedures that are not open to interpretation by local inspectors. All inspections are supported by geo-tagged, time stamped videos/photographs
Benefits
Skilling and placement under DDU-GKY involve eight distinct steps:
- Awareness building within the community on the opportunities
- Identifying rural youth who are poor
- Mobilizing rural youth who are interested
- Counselling of youth and parents
- Selection based on aptitude vi. Imparting knowledge, industry-linked skills, and attitudes that enhance employability
- Providing jobs that can be verified through methods that can stand up to independent scrutiny, and which pay above minimum wages
- Supporting the person so employed for sustainability after placement

The training is provided for both kind of employments based on candidates interest.

Yes, the scheme allows you to only undergo skilling.
Can I select the sector/trade in which I intend to skill
Yes, the application form provides you 3 choices to opt out of many options of sector/trade for training.
I do not belong to SC category, but I am poor youth, Am I eligible?
Yes, you are eligible for the scheme.
What is the income limit for the scheme?
Income limit has not been specified but the identification of the poor shall be done by a process of Participatory Identification of Poor - NRLM Strategy.
I have Rashtra Swastha Bima Yojana card, Can I apply ?
