SVAMITVA stands for "Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas." It's a Central Sector Scheme aimed at providing an integrated inhabited property ownership solution for rural India.

The Pilot Phase of the SVAMITVA scheme was launched on 24th April 2020, coinciding with National Panchayati Raj Day.

Drone Surveying technology is used for demarcating rural inhabited land under SVAMITVA.

Collaborative efforts involving various entities like the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Survey of India, NIC, State Revenue Departments, and State Panchayati Raj Departments are crucial for the successful implementation of SVAMITVA.

The primary objective of SVAMITVA is to provide a "record of rights" to village household owners in the form of Property Cards/Title Deeds.

Historically, inhabited areas of villages have been left out of government surveys, leading to a lack of record of rights, primarily due to limitations in survey focus on agricultural land.

SVAMITVA aims to use technology to provide legal documentation, such as Property Cards/Title Deeds, to rural households, thereby enabling them to utilize their property as a financial asset.

The broad objectives of the SVAMITVA scheme include providing property ownership solutions, leveraging technology for demarcation, and empowering rural households economically.

Stages in the SVAMITVA scheme include signing of MoU, establishing fixed points, drone survey, generation of property cards, CORS station setup, feature extraction, IEC activities, dispute resolution, and organizing Gram Sabha.

SVAMITVA leverages CORS (Continuous Operating Referencing System) and survey-grade drones to create high-resolution maps for demarcation and generation of Property Cards with accuracy.

CORS stations serve as geo-positioning infrastructure, replacing traditional chain surveys, and aiding in the creation of high-resolution maps for property demarcation.

SVAMITVA provides Property Cards digitally through the DigiLocker app, ensuring easy access and transparency in property documentation.

The Pilot Phase of the SVAMITVA scheme covered nine states, including Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

The SVAMITVA scheme targets coverage of nearly 6.62 lakh villages, with 50,000 villages targeted from April 2020 to March 2021, and the remaining villages across the country from 2021-2025.
