The "Promotion of Polylining Technology for Intensive Shrimp Farming" refers to The government of Odisha's initiative or program aimed at promoting the adoption and use of polylining technology in the intensive shrimp farming sector. Polylining technology involves the use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or other similar materials to line the ponds used for shrimp farming.
The objective of this initiative is:
  • To develop eco-friendly sustainable aquaculture systems.
  • To maximize the profits of farmers by preventing disease outbreaks, water seepage, quick turn-around time between two crops, etc.
  • To build up systems providing an equitable cost/ benefit ratio to support economic and social sustainability.
Scheme Outlay & Subsidy:
  • The total outlay under the said program is ₹ 3.90,00,00,000
  • The Unit cost for the installation of a polylining unit is ₹ 2.10,00,000 with 40% subsidy assistance to the General and 60% assistance to SC/ ST/ woman beneficiaries. Subsidy support is only infrastructure costs and doesn’t include any operational costs.
