What is the “Barbershop Renovation Grant” scheme?
The scheme envisages improving the working environment and materials of the traditional barbershop to alleviate the problems faced by traditional barbers.
What is the objective of the scheme?
The objective of the scheme is to uplift the dignity of the traditional Barber communities by modernizing their shops, to improve the standard of living of the above-serving professionals, to spread public awareness of the Government's concern and efforts to help the people who undertaking this profession & to improve the Public health by providing hygienic infrastructure.

Who is eligible to get the benefits of the scheme?
The traditional barber who is belonging to the Other Backward Community of Kerala is eligible to apply under the scheme.
How much grant will be given to the eligible barber under the scheme?
The maximum grant that can be availed by a beneficiary under the scheme is ₹25,000/-.
For which purpose the grant can be used by the beneficiary?
The grant may be used to purchase instruments & furniture, Germs killers, sterilizing instruments, disposable towels and to ensure the hygiene of the existing shop.
Is this scheme only for the barbers of rural areas?
Yes, the barbershop must be in rural areas.
What is the annual family income criterion under the scheme?
The annual family income of the applicant from all sources does not exceed ₹1,00,000/-.
What is minimum experience required to apply for the scheme?
The applicant should have a minimum of ten years of work experience and also currently engaged in the profession at present.
What is the maximum age limit of the applicant?
The age limit of the applicant should not be more than 60 years.
How can an applicant apply under the scheme?
The applicant may submit the completely filled application form along with all the relevant documents to the concerned Grama Panchayath.
